Alston Anderson

Alston is a research echocardiography sonographer in the Echocardiography Core Lab. He received his echocardiography certificate from the Burwin Institute of Winnipeg, Canada. He is registered in adult echocardiography by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).

Ana Barac, MD, PhD, FACC

Ana Barac, MD, PhD, FACC is a noninvasive cardiologist at MedStar Heart and Vascular Institute, an Assistant professor of Medicine at Georgetown University and a staff member of the MedStar's MRI and Echo core laboratories. Her clinical and research interests focus on the mechanisms, diagnosis and treatment of cardiac complications of cancer therapies and she leads MedStar Heart and Vascular Institute's Cardio-Oncology program.
Dr. Barac has basic science research background in signaling pathways and in vascular physiology research on endothelial function. She previously was a research fellow at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, National Institutes of Health. She is the recipient of the KL2 Scholar Award from the Georgetown-Howard Universities Center for Clinical and Translational Science for investigations of cardiovascular toxicity in patients with breast cancer. Her cardiac imaging expertise includes advanced training in cardiac MR and echocardiography, both of which are pivotal in her daily clinical and research endeavours.
Dr. Barac led the Cardio-Oncology Working group within the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and was appointed chair of the new ACC Cardio-Oncology Council in 2015. She serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC), the Journal of Cardiovascular Translational Research and the Cardio-Oncology journal. Dr Barac is a prolific investigator and her research has been published in prestigious journals such as JACC, JASE, Cancer and others.

Pamela Chapman, RDCS

Pamela is a Research Echocardiograhy Sonographer in the Cardiovascular Core Lab. She is a Registered Cardiac Sonographer by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).



Sameer Desale

Sameer Desale is the Biostatistician for the Cardiovascular Core Lab. Sameer received his Master of Science degree in Statistics from the George Washington University in Washington DC.

Robin Edelberg, RDCS, RVT

Robin is a research echocardiography sonographer in the Echocardiography Core Lab. She received her B.A. in Hearing and Speech Sciences from the University of Maryland prior to earning her Associate of Applied Science, with honors, from Montgomery College in cardiac and vascular sonography. With over 17 years of experience, she has worked in clinical settings, as well as in an educational setting as a lecturer and clinical instructor at Montgomery College. She is registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).

Maria Heredia Garcia

Maria is a graduate of National Institute of Cardiology "Ignacio Chavez" in Mexico in Pediatrics Cardiology. She also received her echocardiography certification from the same institute. She worked two years as a Research Echocardiography Sonographer in The Netherlands on the "Generation R" project. The past three years she worked at the Sophia Children's Hospital as a Clinical Sonographer.

Lin Han, MD, MSc, RDCS

Dr. Han is a Research Echocardiograhy Sonographer in the Echocardiography Core Lab. She received her medical degree from the Capital University of Medical Sciences in Beijing, China and a Master of Science from the National University of Singapore. Dr. Han has several years of clinical experience in cardiology and echocardiography, both clinical and research. She has a diverse Echocardiography research background and has published more than ten papers in the field of echocardiography.

Alton Henry, RDCS

Alton is a Research Echocardiograhy Sonographer in the Cardiovascular Core Lab. He joined the lab from The Johns Hopkins Adult Echocardiography Lab in 2012. Alton received his Echocardiography Certificate from The John Hopkins School of Medical Imaging and is registered in Adult Echocardiography by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).





Kalyan Kancherla, MD

Kalyan Kancherla is a Research Assistant in the CT and MRI Cardiovascular Core Laboratory. He is a graduate of Nri Medical School, India. Currently he is licensed to practice medicine in India, ECFMG certified and plans to pursue post-graduate training in the United States.





Sam Legarreta

Sam is a research echocardiographer in the Cardiovascular Core Lab. He received his B.A. from the University of Maryland, and his Associate of Applied Science, with honors, from Montgomery College in cardiac sonography. He has had several years experience in a clinical setting before focusing on research. He is registered in adult echocardiography by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). He is a member of American Society of Echocardiography.





Rachel Marcus, MD., FACC

Rachel has worked in the echo lab at Washington Hospital Center for 12 years, and joined the Cardiovascular Core Lab staff 1.5 years ago. She graduated from Stanford Medical School, completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Stanford Hospital, and was a fellow in cardiovascular medicine at Stanford Hospital. She has focused on echocardiography, and has a special interest in Chagas disease.

Vladimir Masati MD, RDCS

Vladimir Masati is a Research Echocardiograhy Sonographer in the Cardiovascular Core Lab. He completed his Internal Medicine and Cardiology training at the Mother Teresa University School of Medicine in Tirana, Albania. He received his echocardiography training at The Johns Hopkins Hospital School of Echocardiography and is a registered cardiac sonographer by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). He is a member of American Society of Echocardiography and the European Society of Cardiology.

Maureen L. McNulty, RN

Maureen is the Quality Assurance Coordinator for the Cardiovascular Core Lab. Maureen received her B.A. from the College of William and Mary, graduated with honors from the University of Maryland School of Nursing and then went on to receive her Masters in Health Systems Management from George Mason University. She has 7 years of critical care nursing experience and has worked in the research setting since 2002. In addition, Maureen is a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator, as endorsed by the Association of Clinical Research Professionals.

Davita Mitchell

Davita is the Administrative Coordinator for the Core Lab. Her core responsibility include oversight of all incoming and outgoing core lab imaging films and maintenance of the tracking database. She has been with the MedStar family since 1988 and joined the MedStar Cardiovascular CoreLab in 2014. She currently holds an Associates' Degree in Business Management and is in the process of completing a Bachelors in Business Management with a concentration in Management, July 2016.

Valiere Morgan

Valiere is a Research Echocardiograhy Sonographer in the Cardiovascular Core Lab. She received her B.S. in Organizational Management from Nyack College with Distinction. Valiere has over 20 years of cardiac experience in a variety of settings including hospitals, physicians offices, outpatient facilities and mobile units. She is registered in adult echocardiography by Cardiovascular Credentialling International.

Kevin Reeves

Kevin is responsible for overseeing and coordinating existing and new information system activities and identifying gaps and improvement initiatives for trial management information system equipment. Kevin received B.S. in Computer Information Systems from Strayer University in Washington DC.

Fernando Rodriguez-Weisson, MD

Fernando is a Research Assistant in the CT and MRI Cardiovascular Core Laboratory. He graduated from medical school at Pontifical Catholic University in Ecuador. Currently he is licensed to practice medicine in Ecuador and he is ECFMG certified in the United States. His future goal is to pursue residency training in the US medical system.



Amir Ali Zohdi, RDCS

Amir is a Research Echocardiograhy Sonographer in the Cardiovascular Core Lab. Amir received his Associate of Applied Science in sonography from Montgomery College. He is registered in Adult Echocardiography by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
